There is increasing evidence that aging is in part due to loss of epigenetic information over time that leads to cellular dysfunction. I am trying to answer the following two questions: i) What causes this loss of epigenetic information during aging at the molecular level? ii) How do we prevent or reverse it? I am testing aging forward and reverse in tissue culture, animal, and human organoid models to understand evolutionarily conserved aging mechanisms and find ways to safely restore lost youthful epigenetic information.
